SAUSAGE AND BURGER DAY

A fun day was had at the home of Ken and Jacqui Parkes on Sunday 9th May 2010 when members of the Mid Wales and Shropshire Group met for a hands-on session making burgers and sausages.  This was followed by a tasting session when folk got the chance to cook what they had produced on the BBQ.

NOVEMBER MEETING AND TALK

Members of the Mid Wales and Shropshire Group met on Saturday 14th November 2009 at Forden Community Centre and were treated to a delightful slide show entitled 'Dexter Mania' and talk by local veterinary surgeon and Dexter owner Mr Oli Hodkinson from the Trefaldwyn Veterinary Practice.  All the important topics such as condition scoring, calving, worming regimes etc. were covered and members present had the opportunity to ask the vet about any aspect of cattle health they wished.

The Group would like to thank Mr Hodkinson for his time so generously given and to Brenda Cadd for the welcome cup of tea and delicious cakes and most importantly, for arranging the talk.

Members who did not attend the meeting are reminded that subscriptions fell due on 1st September so please send off your remittances to the Treasurer Bryan Finch.

TRAINING DAY - INTRO TO SHOWING

The weather was kind as members of the Mid Wales and Shropshire Group met at the home of David Middlemiss near Craven Arms on Saturday 2nd May 2009.  The session was led by well known competitor and Dexter Cattle Society judge Mr George Godber, who gave a most excellent and informative talk about the art of showing followed by a practical demonstration of ringcraft.   The Group would like to thank Mr Godber for his time so generously given.

FARM VISIT

This took place on Saturday 21^st September 2008.  Members met for a carvery luncheon at  the former Old Swan, Montfort Bridge before moving on to the home of Joyce Newby at The Woodlands, Nibsheath, Nr Shrewsbury. The weather was splendid as were given a guided tour of the farm and then treated to a wonderful tea in the summerhouse overlooking the lake. 

AGM 2009

The Annual General Meeting of the Mid Wales and Shropshire Group was held at the Long Mynd Hotel, Church Stretton, Shropshire, on Saturday January 10th 2009.  Members enjoyed a delicious luncheon before the meeting took place in the lounge.
